BIG BOSS MAN

Elvis Presley Tribute Artiste David Campbell. The Big Boss Man.

Born on the 18th August 1969 in Islington North London.

The youngest of three children and the only boy of the family David Campbell was influenced by music from a very early age. His parents would always have records playing in the house and David would play and listen to such artistes as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Eddie Cochrane and Jim Reeves. The list goes on. David’s home was always busy with friends and relatives visiting. It was at these times that they would have him sing Elvis songs such as Hound Dog and Wooden Heart. At a very early age David Campbell was already performing.

It wasn’t until his late teens that David realised just how much impact his voice was having on people when he sang Elvis songs at Karaoke Bars, parties and in clubs with the bands he had joined.

"There are heavily bearded Elvises, four-year-old Elvises and Elvis duos.  Italian Elvises, Greek Elvises, Jewish Elvises, Fat Elvises , a Lady Elvis, even a Black Elvis. (Impersonator impresario Ed Franklin). We've had every type of Elvis there is in the world."

Professional Elvis impersonation can be called a Special Branch of the Entertainment Industry.

.

David Campbell as the Big Boss Man visited Gracelands in 1998. While there he went to Nashville Tennessee and sang in a very famous bar - “Tootsies” -  where the likes of Willy Nelson, Patsy Cline and other Country stars started out.  David sang two Elvis numbers with Jimmy Snider and his band and his tip bucket was filled by everyone in the bar by the end of his performance.

Since 1998 David as the Big Boss Man has entered the Walk A Golden Mile In My Shoes Elvis European Championships held at Blackpool.  In 2004 he went through to the semi-finals.  Karen Presley (Elvis’ cousin) was one of the judges and was very impressed with his performance.  In January 2005 David as the Big Boss Man sang in the finals of the contest to a panel of judges that included Larry Geller (who was Elvis’ hairdresser and personal friend from 1962 until the star's death in 1977). Larry enjoyed the songs that David chose and commented on how close his voice was to Elvis’.  This helped David as the Big Boss Man through to the top 5 in the finals.

His latest achievement was a dream come true when he was given the opportunity in September 2006 to record 2 songs while in Nashville Tennessee in the Legendary RCA Studio B where Elvis recorded most of his hits.  It was an amazing experience. David’s inspiration has continued throughout his life and his achievements have led him to recreate and perform an Elvis Show that is energetic, unique and true to the Legend himself.

This is – The Big Boss Man. Based in London.
